The carapace around our lives normally escapes our notice.
If we made a choice to see just doors, just closed shutters,
just keyholes, and locked gates, would we see it then ?
If, in a moment's time, we heard nothing but all the latches sliding shut,
and all the keys turning in the lock,
would we then feel our ribs turn inward ?
If we thought about the sheets that wrap us in our sleep,
would we touch its lining ?
